Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Stuart Irvine and is back with another edition of the Wednesday Night Warfare review series. Where every week I will review both AEW and NXT weekly show’s and see who was better.
Has looked at the latest edition of AEW Dynamite now that look at the 9th October edition of NXT. It took place in Full Sail University with Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuiness and Beth Phoenix on the commentary team.
Drew Gulak © vs. Lio Rush for the NXT Cruiserweight Championships

My Opinion: Great way to start the show with two men that had different styles that worked well together and made them look great. I liked Gulak using his amateur background to ground, the high flyer and Lio was taken some huge bumps from being pushed off the top rope and that impact clothesline looked like it hurt.
But we have a new cruiserweight champion in Lio Rush after a stunner than the final hour for the 3 count. This was the right call because Rush is the type of wrestler that can push the division forward as it's now on the Yellow and Gold brand.
It’s what the Divisions needed because it been an afterthought the last couple of years and NXT know how to build good story’s and make title mean more as they did here. So exciting times of the Cruiserweight division.

My Rating: 3 out of 5
- After the match, William Regal comes in the ring and puts the Cruiserweight Title belt on Rush, but Drew acting like a sore loser takes it away but with a great show of respect, he gives the title back to him and shakes his hands. That was a good thing too see and feels like a passing of the torch moment
Rhea Ripley vs. Aliyah.

My Opinion: Short and sweet match here with Rhea Ripley getting the win with an awesome looking invested cloverleaf submission on Aliyah and she tapped.
Was a squash match just to put Ripley over which is fine and is looking amazing and she only 23 which is really scary. But looks like she is going after the NXT Women’s Title next so should be interesting to see where that goes.

My Rating: 1.5 out of 5 (Just because it was a short match)
Tyler Breeze and Fandango vs. Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake.

My Opinion: I like this match and was really there to put over the Forgotten Sons who looked good after attacking Ever-Rise before the match. Tyler Breeze and Fandango had a good showing and it's nice to see them back together in a brand that knows what to do with them.
But Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake get the win with The Memory Remains on Fandango to hopefully get a shot at the NXT Tag Team Titles as they would give Undisputed Era a run of their money.

My Rating: 3 out of 5
Cameron Grimes vs. Boa.

My Opinion: Your blink and you miss it with a quick win for Cameron Grimes with a double stomp on Boa. Wow, two squash matches on one show not a big fan of that but it’s fine because I think that the point with the story they are going with Cameron Grimes. But not much to say really as what happened next was what the whole thing was for.

My Rating: 1 out of 5
- Killian Dain comes to the ring after the match, attacking Grimes and then poor Boa gets Vader bombs and slammed on the commentary table. Killian Dain looks great her to get is momentum back after the Riddle loses and see him facing Boa next week to get his revenge.
– Good video promo from Damian Priest to explain why he attacked Pete Dunne which was to make a name for himself which is simple and always work. I like what I see and it hyped next weeks match very well, am I the only one who thinks Damian Priest looks just a Vin Diesel from Fast and Furious it maybe just me.
Roderick Strong © vs. Isaiah Scott in a Non-Title Match.

My Opinion: A match that had no right to be as good as it was with Isaiah Scott looking amazing here and is now a big fan of his now. Also, those kick by Isaiah Scott look good and Strong sold really well and Strong did at times look in real trouble.
I guess the story here is he getting cocky after winning the title and is taking his opponent lightly and Scott almost did get the win. But Strong gets the win after an Undisputed Era distracted was enough for Strong to hit multiple knees and kicks then the stronghold to get the submission win.
Everyone looks great here and keeps the story up with can Strong kept the title without Undisputed Era help. I look forward to his match against The Velveteen Dream for the North American Title in two weeks.

My Rating: 3.5 out of 5
- After the match, the rest of the Undisputed Era enters the ring and Cole big’s up Isaiah Scott and NXT and tell Finn Balor and Tommaso Ciampa that if they think they are dethroning the Undisputed Era that not going to happen.
- Then, the Dream’s music hits that start saying Undisputed Era are mostly great, but Roderick Strong is the weak link with him showing a photo of Roderick Strong posing on the couch with his belt. Then, he says that in two weeks the Dream will strip Strong of the North American title, and then the world will see why you don’t just… measure up.
- Then we get the same photo as before but without the belt and a small blurred out area. I loving this rival as dreams are looking great and I do think he will get the belt back at some point.
-But we get more with Tommaso Ciampa coming down to the ring with a crutch with him and a chair. And then sits down and says to Goldie ‘Daddy’s Home’. Just adding more to the story that Undisputed Era titles are in big trouble.
-Lastly, we get Cathy Kelley waiting for Tommaso Ciampa backstage. But, Angel Garza gets in Cathy way, she ignores him. Then when Ciampa turns up and Cathy tries to interview Ciampa and Angel is shocked that she ignores him for Ciampa.
Angel says something in Spanish, Ciampa punches him and then was asked what he said and he replied he didn’t know. Was a simple set up for Ciampa to have a match next week which is fine as it will be great to see him in the ring again.
Bianca Belair vs. Dakota Kai.

My Opinion: A good back and forth match here with a lot of counts and roll up as it was a battle of wills. It’s great to see Dakota Kai back in the ring after her injury and had a good showing here. Would have liked her to win here as it would have been a good return to get the title shot type of storyline but all well.
But Bianca Belair gets the win with the KOD, and it looks like Bianca Belair is setting her sights on NXT Women’s title as well which is good as it similar to Adam Cole with multiple challengers for the title so looks forward to seeing where it goes.

My Rating: 3 out of 5
WALTER vs. KUSHIDA in a Non-Title Match.

My Opinion: Another the great main event here with both WALTER and KUSHIDA putting everything into it. The story of the match was really good with WALTER using his strength to crops to get the advantages and KUSHIDA using his speed to lock in his hoverboard lock and get WALTER to tap.
Near the end when KUSHIDA hit a Spanish fly into the hoverboard lock and I thought he would tap, but a ripcord clothesline on KUSHIDA and gets the 3 counts. I hope they have a rematch at some point because they work really well together and is loving KUSHIDA in NXT at the moment.

My Rating: 4 out of 5
Final Thoughts:

So overall another good show this week by NXT, with the cruiserweight and main event being the highlight for me. A lot of the other matches were good to build future storylines for the NXT Title and Women’s Title.
May have been one or two matches that could have not squash's but I understand why they were. But as always with NXT it fun to watch and look forward to seeing what they have of us next week.
