Welcome to season 3 of my Best Matches series: where I look at some of Stone Cold Steve Austin's Greatest Matches from him being Stunning Steve Austin to Raising Hell on Mr McMahan during the Attitude Era. I got some of these matches of the Legacy of Stone Cold Steve Austin DVD which was released in 2007.

So next we look at Austin's battle against Kane for the WWF Title in a First Blood Match at King of the Ring 1998.

Season 3 Episode Seven

First Blood Match for the WWF Championship Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Kane King of the Ring • June 28, 1998

Attitude Era type booking at this best, with stipulation after stipulation, refs getting knocked out, the Hell in a Cell being lowered and raised that we never know who did it (To this day we still don’t know haha). It was crazy and to be fair Austin was never going to win as how the hell were you going to make Kane bleed with the mask on haha (They did bring it up to be fair haha).

The match itself was all over the place and was a enjoy to watch and kept you on the edge of your seat, and you were waiting for someone to come down and cost Austin after Earl Hebner got taken out. Mankind came out and tried to hit Austin with the chair which made no sense (Maybe their an storyline I don’t know about, but hey haha).

Taker hitting Austin by accident and busts him wide open, then uses the gasoline to wake up Hebner so that Austin can lose the match (I'm so confused haha). Then, Hebner wakes up and sees Austin bleeding and calling for the bell and Kane is your new WWF Champion (I mean he lost the title 24 hours later, but he won the title dammit haha). Crazy match up here and if you need a perfect example of how insane the Attitude Era was this is it.

Verdict: 7 out of 10
