Welcome to Season 5 of my Best Matches series: where I look at the best matches of a certain wrestler. This season I look at one of the best wrestling reinventors of all time (my opinion, of course, haha) and distant family member Chris Jericho (no proof of that, just that his real-life surname is Irvine so you never know haha).
I'll look at his time in WCW, his battles in the 2000s with the likes of Triple and The Rock, to his late WWE career, his time at New Japan etc. If you want to look at my previous series then click on the link below.
(These posts will be once a week and not every day as in the previous series. So every Wednesday at 1 pm (UK Time) these reviews will be up)
Check out the last four seasons:
Kenny Omega (Season 1)
Becky Lynch (Season 2)
Stone Cold Steve Austin (Season 3)
Eddie Guerrero (Season 4)
Next, we look at Chris Jericho's Last Man Standing Match against Triple H at Fully Loaded 2000.
Season 5 Episode Five
Last Man Standing Match Chris Jericho vs. Triple H Fully Loaded 2000 • 23rd July 2000

Now that is what an last man standing match should be, it was brutal and bloody and at first, I thought why this match was an last man standing and not like a cage or no DQ match, but the more the match continued I totally got it. As I’ve been watching a lot of WWF in 2000 lately (cheap plug for my podcast haha) Triple H was on fire during this period and played the heel role perfectly.
This was really the first big match that Jericho had and they made him look a million bucks, with everything Triple H threw at him he wouldn’t stay down which made him look great and when he got back into the match, the crowd were loving it. But it wouldn't be a Triple H match without some blood and you forget that blood does make matches more real and edgy.
It picked up when Triple H was bleeding with the chair shots and table spot, and even Stephanie got involved, which I normally wouldn't agree with, but the way Stephanie acts as a heel is totally justified and it works. But I love this match from top to bottom with everyone looking great and getting elevated. If you love the attitude-era style of wrestling then you should check out this match out as it's one of the best last man standing matches in history.
Verdict: 10 out of 10
