Welcome to Season 3 of my Best Matches series: where I look at some of Stone Cold Steve Austin's Greatest Matches from him being Stunning Steve Austin to Raising Hell on Mr McMahan during the Attitude Era. I got some of these matches of the Legacy of Stone Cold Steve Austin DVD which was released in 2007.
Check out the last two seasons:
Kenny Omega (Season 1)
Becky Lynch (Season 2)
So next we look at his Tag Team title match where he and Triple H defend against Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit May 21th 2001 edition of Monday Night RAW.
Season 3 Episode Ten
WWF Tag Team Championship Match Stone Cold Steve Austin & Triple H vs. Chris Jericho & Chris Benoit RAW • May 21, 2001

This main event is remembered as the match that Triple H tears us quadriceps from Jericho's 'Wall of Jericho' on the announce table which kept him out for a year. But why can’t main events be like this one, my god this was action-packed and entertaining and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time (I know this was in 2001 and I know who would win, but that’s not the point haha).
The story was simple but well-executed with Stone Cold and Triple H being the veterans and Benoit & Jericho being the young lions wanting to make a name for themselves and get a big win. The crowd were hot for this one and Austin & Triple H used every heel tactic in the book to try and get the win, with Benoit (Who should never be named) the legal man for most of the match, but when Jericho got the hot tag, this is when the match picked up big time.
Loved that Austin was already beat near the end after the lionsault by Jerchico and the ref was checking on Triple H. But when Triple H (Who was working hurt at this point) hit Austin with the sledgehammer being the nail in the coffee.
This is one of Jericho & Benoit's biggest wins and was treated as such. Very Iconic RAW ending and to be fair one of the best Tag team ending in WWE History. But if you want a nostalgic feeling of how RAW main events used to be, then check out this match and remind yourself why you love pro wrestling.
Verdict: 8 out of 10
