Hello Ladies and Gentlemen my name is Stuart Irvine here my brief thoughts on WWE Clash of Champions 2019 that took place at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This night every title was to be defended from Becky Lynch going against Sasha Banks for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship, to Seth Rollins and Brawn Strowman being Partner and opponents on the same night.

So that look into WWE Clash of Champions 2019.

Drew Gulak defeated Humberto Carrillo and Lince Dorado to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

AJ Styles defeated Cedric Alexander to retain the WWE United States Championship.

Seth Rollins and Brawn Strowman © vs Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship.

My Opinion: It was a pretty solid tag team match but it was nothing special and with Seth and Brawn going against each other later in the night it wasn’t going to be a long match. I like that it was a misconnection with Brawn actions costing them the match as it works well with the story they are trying to tell.

No surprise that Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode won and it gives both of them something to do which is good but would have another tag team winning the titles instead of a team that was put together a month again, but that may just be me.

My Rating: 3 out of 5.

Bayley © vs Charlotte Flair for the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship.

My Opinion: Wow that was short didn’t see that coming, but the result wasn’t a surprise with Bayley getting the win, I kinder like that Bayley cheated to get the win with the exposed turnbuckle which is a smart heel move, and it what her characters needed after just turning heel so wouldn’t have made sense to her to lose the title.

But is a guess Charlotte was the face here which is weird but she still looks strong and I see her winning her 10th women's championship by the end of the year.

My rating: 2 out of 5.

The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods) © vs The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship.

My Opinion: Another solid tag team match but you expect nothing less for the two best tag teams in WWE. They play the story well with the knee injury of Xavier Woods and I like that it played in the finish of the match. It is finally nice to see The Revival at their best and looked great in this match.

The ending of the match was a bit confusing with not understanding why they didn’t pin woods after hitting the shatter machine. But good finish to the match and I hope they have a better run with the smackdown tag team title that they did with the Raw ones.

My Rating: 3 out of 5.

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross © vs Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

My Opinion: So a good match here with Nikki Cross being the star of the show. I liked that Nikki got her revenge after the bad words Mandy Rose said about her looks. I don’t know If I liked the interface of 24/7 title as it made the tag match look weak.

But it was funny that Alexa Bliss almost won the 24/7 title, but it wasn’t to be, but Nikki gets the win with a neckbreaker off the top rope. Is a surprise that Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross have lasted this long without turning on each other so would be interesting to watch that unfold.

My Rating: 3 out of 5.

Shinsuke Nakamura © vs The Miz for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

My Opinion: Fine match but it was more about what Sami Zayn and what he was doing at ringside that made this match worth watching. I like Sami Zayn on the live mic doing a commentary of the match it was really annoying and using it as a way to distract The Miz which in the end it did.

So Nakamura retains with the help of Sami Zayn I’m liking this partnership as it's what both men need to get noticed again. Also, what are they doing with The Miz his face run is yet again falling fait hopefully he gets someone better to work with soon.

My Rating: 2.5 out of 5

Becky Lynch © vs Sasha Banks for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.

My Opinion: What a match it was everything it needed to be. I say this is Becky best match since becoming Raw Women’s Champion. Both women looked great and the ending with it going into the crowd made the whole thing unpredictable but as a big Becky Lynch fan was nice to see her beat the hell out of Sasha Banks.

A DQ win for Sasha Banks works I guess so she doesn’t look too weak, also why didn’t they ring the bell if the make was throw out and the joke of refs being made out of paper still stands. But I can get over these issues as I’m looking for to their next meeting hopefully at Hell in a Cell.

My Rating: 4 out of 5.

Kofi Kingston © vs Randy Orton for the WWE Championship.

My Opinion: A pretty decent WWE Championship match, with both Kofi and Randy character working well here. I have to admit was did last longer than need and I don’t think the crowd was really into this match. But it wasn’t in doubt that Kofi wouldn't win and the Trouble in paradise out of nowhere was a good way to end the match.

Orton was at his heel best with dishing out a lot of punishing on Kofi and as Kofi is always the underdog in these matches it worked well. I don’t know who will take the WWE Title off Kofi but I would depend on who gets drafted to smackdown on Oct 6th but I would like to see Kevin Owens win it at some point when he gets rehired.

My Rating: 3 out of 5

Roman Reigns vs Erick Rowan

My Opinion: A very enjoyable match up with Erick Rowan never looking so good I can’t believe that Erick controlled most of this match. They used the No DQ situation very well and liked the use of the camera rig as a weapon that was new, but the return of Luke Harper was a surprise but with he not being release for WWE he had to do something.

Erick Rowan getting the win was needed with the push he is getting, so would be interesting to see where this will go how that Luke Harper involved and wouldn’t be surprised if Daniel Bryan gets into the storyline at some point.

My rating: 3.5 out of 5

Seth Rollins © vs Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship

My Opinion: A great way to end the PPV, It was a no-stop action-filled match and work for both men's strength with Braun using his Power and Seth using his speed. I sometimes think Seth was made for these type of matches against big men.

Also, Braun looked great and kicking out of three curb stomp and that top rope splash by Brawn looked great. But Seth was always going to win, you don’t beat Brock Lenser for a second time and then lose the title the forwarding PPV.

So it looks like it The Fiend vs Seth for the Title at Hell in a Cell has the potential of being the best Hell in the Cell in years. But, I personally think it’s too early for Bray to be in the title scene but strike when the iron is hot so that see where it does.

My Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Final Thoughts: So to be fair a pretty good PPV by WWE, most of the matches were pretty good and they were one or two shocks that I didn’t see coming which was something new. The best matches of the night were Becky vs Sasha and Seth vs Braun and with The Fiend in the title scene Raw and Smackdown going to get interesting.

So I hope you have enjoyed my review of WWE Clash of Champions 2019 so on Friday where I and Josh will return for a more in-depth review of the PPV so have a lookout on our Twitter and Instagram for links to that review.
