Stuart Irvine NXT Review (2nd October 2019) Edition

Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Stuart Irvine and is back with part two of my new series of review of Wednesday Warfare with AEW going against NXT. In part one, I looked at AEW Dynamite and now that look at NXT 2nd October 2019 edition.
So that begins looking at this bad boy.
Adam Cole © vs Matt Riddle for the NXT Championship
My Opinion: What an opening contest with Adam Cole and Matt Riddle putting everything into it, with counter after counter with superkicks, Canadian destroyer what didn’t happen in this match. This would have been a great main event at a Takeover.
At one point thinking, Matt Riddle may have done it, but Adam Cole got the win after hitting him with the cast and the last shot to retain the title. I forget how good Matt Riddle is in the ring and was outstanding I hope he wins the title at some point in the future.
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5.
- After the match, Finn fecking Balor music hit and declare that he is NXT, what a shock and the idea of seeing Balor vs Cole is getting me really excited when writing this and can’t wait to see (Why haven't I been watching NXT all this time haha.

- Velveteen Dream turns up talking about Roderick Strong and getting help last week to take his NXT North American Championship from him and challenges him for a rematch without any help and his last words were ‘Dream Over’. Solid promo by the dream look forward to seeing if strong accepts
- They announced that Lio Rush and Galek will go head to head for the NXT Cruiserweight Title next week. That would be an amazing match.
Io Shirai vs. Mia Yim
My Opinion: An excellent match between two amazing women wrestlers, I’m liking this heel Io Shirai, so it brings out more of her character and is more aggressive, loved that 6:19 by her it was a thing of beauty.
But Mia Yim was great and brought the best out of Shirai and I forget how good Mia Yim really is (I'm making a habit of doing that hahaha) and why she was the stand out in the Mia Young Classic two years ago. So hope to see Io Shirai in the title picture soon, I guess that the point and I look forward to watching her progress as I’ll be watching NXT more but really enjoyed this one.
My Rating: 3 out of 5
Johnny Gargano vs. Shane Thorne:
My Opinion: Really solid match between these two and a good match for a returning Johnny Gargano to have. Shane Thorne really giveth him a tough test and I looked good as well, with that the last ride, side down powerbomb looked awesome and I like to to see more of him.
But there was no doubt that Johnny Wrestling was going to win here and would be interesting to see what they do with Johnny Gargano as he has done everything you can do in NXT.

Shayna Baszler © vs. Candice LeRae for NXT Women’s Championship
My Opinion: Another solid and entertaining match on this show, I know I say that a lot but it had great storytelling with Baszler as the dominant champion and the Candice LeRae being the underdog challenger ready to prove herself and they play their role perfectly.
With Baszler using her MMA background to get the advance and LeRae high flying to put the champion down. But really good action and great effect by LeRea but when that Coquina Clutch was applied you knew it was over.
So Baszler reign continues and but for how much longer is the question, but I think Candice LeRae will win the title at some point and then lose it to Io Shirai but will have to wait and see.
My Rating: 3.5 out of 5
Hype package for Walter vs. Kushida next week and I can not wait that match is going to be great with the Walter strength and Kushida speed it set up be a classic.
Pete Dunne vs. Danny Burch:
My Opinion: So a hard-hitting affair with these two and similar styles, and like most the of matches on this show just great to see and both men looking good. The last couple of matches I’ve seen with Danny Burch I'm always impressed I think a single run with be great to see.
But, Pete Dunne gets the win which with him being full time in NXT now need to build him up as a challenger for either the North American Title or NXT Title but he always produced Pete Dunne and this was nothing different.
My Rating: 3 out of 5
After the match, the lights when dark and then Damian Priest attacked Pete Dunne from behind. I guess we know now who Dunne facing next and look forward to seeing what Damian Priest is in the ring because I have to admit I have no idea who he is haha.
The Undisputed Era © vs. The Street Profits for the NXT Tag Team Championship
My Opinion: I extended nothing less from these two teams, what the main event, with it being a tale of two halves with the first half being old school tag team wrestling with undisputed era isolate ford, but when the hot tag happened it picked up into a hard-hitting and high flying match up.
The Street Profits almost got the win but a distraction by strong give Undisputed Era time to hit the high and low for the win. I see The Undisputed Era having the tag title for a while and look forward to seeing who they will face next but they always deliver an awesome match up.
My Rating: 4 out of 5
Final Thoughts:
Where have I been, this show was so good with each giving something and like AEW no time was wasted and totally focus which I like. But the matches of the night were the Tag Team Title match with the NXT Title match coming second. So with them going two hours haven't affected the quality of the wrestling here.
Can’t wait for next week with Walter vs. Kushida and Lio Rush vs Galek NXT Cruiserweight Title. If this is going to be standard each week with AEW and NXT then I’m going to be a happy man and can't wait for round two of Wednesday Warfare.
